Iran’s annual walnut exports soar

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 10. Iran's walnut exports increased by 46.6 percent in value and 20.2 percent in volume, over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), compared to the preceding year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2023), Trend reports.

Overall, Iran exported more than 559 tons of walnuts worth $4.3 million within the last Iranian year.

Meanwhile, in the preceding year, Iran's walnut export stood at 465 tons worth $2.93 million.

Last year, Iran exported walnuts to 10 countries – the UAE, the UK, Bahrain, Turkmenistan, Iraq, Russia, France, Qatar, Canada and Kuwait.

In general, there are 163,000 hectares of walnut orchards in Iran. Of that, 130,000 hectares are productive, while 33,000 hectares are newly planted orchards.

On average, more than 260,000 tons of walnuts are harvested in Iran per year.

In total, Iran exported more than 7.76 million tons of agricultural and food products worth approximately $5.2 billion for the last Iranian year.
