BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 12. More than 800,000 tons of potatoes are expected to be harvested in Iran’s Ardabil Province in the north-west of the country during the autumn season (September 23 through December 21, 2023), an official of the Ardabil Province Agriculture Department, Ghafour Aghaei said, Trend reports.
The official stressed that for this purpose, about 20,000 hectares of agricultural area in the province will be planted with potatoes.
He added that a part of the potatoes grown in the province is consumed in the domestic market, and a part is exported to other countries.
According to Aghaei, more than 70 percent areas under potato in Ardabil Province are irrigated with high-pressure water hoses.
There are about 750,000 hectares of agricultural land in Ardabil Province of Iran. Of that, 40,000 hectares are orchards, 225,000 hectares are ordinary agricultural land, while 480,000 hectares are dry-farming land. One average, 4.5 million tons of agricultural products are cultivated in Ardabil Province.
