Afghan investor to make foreign investments in Iran's Caspian port

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 10. An Afghan company will make $50 million worth of foreign investment into Iran’s Caspian port, head of the zone Akbar Niyazi said, Trend reports.

In this, a contract was signed between Iran’s Anzali Free Trade and Industrial Zone and an Afghan company on July 8, 2023.

The official did not give any information about the name of the mentioned Afghan company.

According to Niyazi, the investment of the Afghan company will be spent on the construction of 3 docks in the Caspian port.

Niyazi also added that the investment will allow help increase cargo transit and strengthen infrastructure in the Caspian port.

The official also pointed out that 700 investment plans have been prepared for the construction of 3 docks in the Caspian port. Local and foreign companies are interested in these plans.

At present, Iran’s Caspian port has the capacity of loading and unloading 3-5 million tons of cargo per year. If this port is fully operational, it will be possible to load and unload 15 million tons of cargo per year.
