Iran’s raw steel exports up

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 29. Iran's raw steel exports increased by 10.5 percent, during the first three months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through June 21, 2023), compared to the same period in the last year, Trend reports.

As reflected in the data of Iranian Steel Producers Association (ISPA), Iran exported 2.1 million tons of raw steel in 3 months.

Meanwhile, in the same period last Iranian year, the figure stood at 1.9 million tons.

So, Iran exported nearly 1.46 million tons of billet and bloom within 3 months. This is an increase of 10.5 percent compared to 1.32 million tons in the same period of last year.

At the same time, Iran exported 646,000 tons of slabs for 3 months, which is 10.6 percent more than in the same period last Iranian year. So, the figure was 584,000 tons in the same period in the last Iranian year.

Moreover, Iran exported 829,000 tons of steel products over the mentioned period. This is an increase of 36 percent compared to 609,000 tons in the same period last Iranian year.

Along with all these, Iran exported 363,000 tons of sponge iron in 3 months, which is an increase of 282 percent compared to 95,000 tons in the same period of last Iranian year.

Reportedly, Iran's annual steel production capacity is around 40 million tons. Iran plans to increase the figure to 55 million tons by 2025.
