Iran observes significant growth in weekly sales at its mercantile exchange

BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 23. In total, 3.23 million tons of goods worth approximately 360 trillion rials (about $8.57 billion) were sold at the Iran Mercantile Exchange (IME) during the last Iranian week (September 16 through September 21, 2023), Trend reports.

According to the report, sales increased by 42 percent in value and 7.6 percent in volume compared with the preceding Iranian week (September 9 through September 14, 2023).

So, 3 million tons of goods worth approximately 253 trillion rials (about $6 billion) were sold at the Iran Mercantile Exchange (IME) in the preceding week.

Last week, 2.62 million tons of goods worth 240 trillion rials (about $5.71 billion) were sold in IME's industrial and mining products section.

The main products sold in this section included cement, iron ore, steel, sponge iron, aluminum, copper, lead, molybdenum concentrate, etc.

Furthermore, 605,000 tons of various oil and petrochemical products worth 119 trillion rials (about $2.84 billion) were sold in the oil and petrochemical products section of IME last Iranian week.

The main products sold in this section were bitumen, vacuum bottoms, polymers, chemicals, lube cut, base oil, petroleum products, sulfur, gas, etc.

Also, 3,300 tons of various products worth 1.06 trillion rials (about $25.2 million) were sold in the submarket section of the exchange.

The Iran Mercantile Exchange (IME) operates in order to provide and set prices for many products. The price of products at the IME is determined based on supply and demand. The Exchange and Securities Organization of Iran is in favor of the wholesale sale of strategically important products by the Commodity Exchange.
