BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 30. In total, 6.7 million tons of goods worth $4.17 billion were imported through the customs of Iran’s Khuzestan Province during the first six months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2023), Customs Inspector of Khuzestan Province Behrouz Gharabeigi said, Trend reports.
The official noted that the province’s imports for the reporting decreased by 3 percent in value compared to the same period last Iranian year.
However, he did not clarify the increase or decrease of imports in terms of volume.
Gharabeigi added that various types of equipment and raw materials were the main imported goods via the province’s customs. The products were mainly imported from China, the UAE, Türkiye and other countries.
“Meanwhile, the revenue of the province's customs stood at 87.7 trillion rials (about $2.09 billion) in 6 months. This is 56 percent more than the same period last year,” he said.
Overall, Iran imported 14.4 million tons of goods worth $24.2 billion within the first 5 months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through August 22, 2023). This is an increase of 7.49 percent in value and 2.17 percent in volume compared to the same period last year.
