BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 27. The non-oil exports from Iran’s Golestan Province rose by 42 percent in value and 48 percent in volume during the first eight months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through November 21, 2023), compared to the same period last year, Director General of Golestan Province Customs Office Shahriar Shahriari said, Trend reports.
The director general mentioned that the province exported non-oil products worth around $201 million and weighing 352,000 tons in 8 months.
Shahriari added that the main items included polystyrene, eggs, cheese, different profiles, fish feed, iodine, dates, pistachios, and more.
He said that the province’s non-oil products reached 25 countries, with Turkmenistan, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, and Uzbekistan being the top destinations. Turkmenistan alone imported products worth $61 million from the province.
Overall, Iran exported 90 million tons of non-oil products worth over $32 billion in the first 8 months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through November 21, 2023). This is an increase of 1.6 percent in value and 27 percent in volume compared to the same period last year.
Iran’s non-oil exports do not include crude oil, mazut, and white oil, which are subject to US sanctions that prevent Iran from exporting them freely. Therefore, Iran has been focusing on increasing its non-oil exports to cope with the economic pressure.
