BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 6. Iran's exports to the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), grew by 20 percent in value and 45 percent in volume, during the first eight months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through November 21, 2023), compared to the same period of the preceding year, said Rouhollah Latifi, an official of the Central Union of Rural and Agricultural Cooperatives of Iran, Trend reports.

According to him, Iran exported 2.78 million tons of goods worth $1.07 billion to the EAEU member countries (Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan) in 8 months.

“In 8 months, Iran exported about 1.5 million tons worth $616 million to Russia, 305,000 tons worth around $124 million to Kazakhstan, 36,000 tons worth $49.7 million to Kyrgyzstan, 12,300 tons worth about $12.4 million to Belarus,” Latifi added.

The official also mentioned that agricultural and food products made up 39 percent of Iran's total exports to EAEU members in value and 20 percent in volume.

As for Iran’s trade turnover with EAEU member states for eight months, Latifi noted that the trade turnover stood at 5.2 million tons worth $2.34 billion, which is an increase of 14 percent in value and 33.5 percent in volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year.

In total, Iran’s non-oil exports reached $32.2 billion in value and more than 90 million tons in volume in the first eight months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through November 21, 2023).

Compared to the same period of the previous Iranian year, the value of non-oil exports decreased by 1.6 percent, while the volume increased by 27 percent.

Iran’s non-oil exports do not include crude oil, mazut, and white oil, which are subject to US sanctions that prevent Iran from exporting them freely. Therefore, Iran has been focusing on increasing its non-oil exports to cope with the economic pressure.
