Iran’s Golestan Province records remarkable increase in import

BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 25. Iran’s Golestan Province, located in the north-east of the country, recorded a huge growth in its imports in the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through December 21, 2023), Director General of Golestan Province Customs Office Shahriar Shahriari said, Trend reports.

Shahriari stated that the province’s imports rose by 197 percent in value and 186 percent in volume compared to the same period last year.

He also pointed out that the province imported around 58,400 tons of goods worth approximately $116 million in nine months.

The director general added that the main import items were soybean oil, various polymers, sodium sulfate, fabric, cotton fibers, and more.

According to Shahriari, these goods came from 25 different countries, such as China, Türkiye, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and England.

Overall, Iran imported 24.7 million tons of goods worth $42.1 billion in the first 8 months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through November 21, 2023). This is an increase of 12 percent in value and four percent in volume compared to the same period last year.
