BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 2. Iran’s Yazd Province, located in the center of the country, has exported 2.38 million tons of non-oil products worth $384 million in the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through December 21, 2023), Director General of Yazd Province Customs Office Mohammad Hossein Salmani said, Trend reports.
This is an increase of 6 percent in value, while a decrease of 6 percent in volume compared to the same period last Iranian year, Salmani said.
The director general added that the province’s goods were exported to 54 countries, mainly Iraq, the UAE, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Oman and Türkiye. He also said that the main export items were light hydrocarbons, steel ingots, fittings, etc.
Yazd Province has a rich history and culture, as well as a diverse and resilient economy. The province is known for its production of textiles, carpets, handicrafts, jewelry, sweets, and dried fruits. It is also home to many industrial zones and complexes that produce various types of metals, chemicals, machinery, and equipment.
Yazd Province aims to increase its non-oil exports in the second half of the year by expanding its product portfolio, enhancing its quality standards, diversifying its markets, and strengthening its trade relations with its partners.
The latest data of IRICA shows that Iran exported about 102 million tons of non-oil products worth $36.4 billion in the first 9 months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through December 21, 2023). This represents a 0.68 percent drop in value, but a 26.5 percent rise in volume compared to the same period last year.
