BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 8. Azerbaijan is an important partner of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Ding Tao Charge d'Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Azerbaijan said during a conference on the promotion of logistics and trade in Azerbaijan, SCO demonstration zone, Trend reports.
"In 2016, Azerbaijan joined the SCO as a partner and has become a significant member of the organization, playing an increasingly pivotal role in regional economic cooperation. Over the past six years, the SCO demonstration area has continued to evolve, establishing itself as a hub for multilateral economic and trade cooperation services, bilateral investment projects, and business platforms.
During the sixth financial meeting, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Small and Medium Business Development Agency of Azerbaijan and Shanghai, in the presence of Azerbaijan's Deputy Prime Minister. This initiative has injected new momentum into local economic and trade cooperation," he said.
To note, Kazakhstan's Astana hosted the SCO Summit on July 4. Azerbaijan, among others, was represented at the summit by the head of state, alongside leaders from India, Iran, China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Mongolia, Qatar, the UAE, Türkiye, and Turkmenistan. The summit also included the SCO Secretary-General and the Executive Director of the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure.
