IN 2006 AZERBAIJAN TO COME AS FIRST COUNTRY ON GDP GROWTH, AVAZ ALAKBAROV

In 2006 Azerbaijan will come as the first country on GDP growth in the world. GDP growth will comprise 30% in 2005 or the highest figure in the world, Avaz Alakbarov, the Finance Minister, told Trend. According to Alakbarov, this is directly related to the oil strategy, putting the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline into exploitation.

GDP will 70.5 trln manats in 2006. GDP figure per head will identical to figure of total volume of GDP i.e 30%.

According to Alakbarov, GDP growth on results of previous period of 2005 makes up 19%. Though the forecast for late 2005 is equal from 18% to 19%, it will probably exceed 20%.
