(autoinsidernews) - Now that Audi has completed the rollout of its V10-powered S6, the automaker has begun work on its even higher power RS6. If a Lamborghini-based V10 is good enough for the S6, then what should power the RS6? How does a turbocharged V10 sound?
Distinguished by larger air intakes in the front bumper and two oval exhaust tips (S models have four round tips), World Car Fans says this S6 Avant is actually a prototype for the next-generation Audi RS6, which will also be offered in a sedan version. If we see the RS6 in the States, we are likely to only see the sedan version. The RS6 is expected to be powered by a turbocharged version of the 5.0L V10 from the S6, but delivering between 520 and 550 bhp. With power figures in that range, the RS6 should match up well with the it primary competitors, the BMW M5 and Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG.
The Audi RS6 will likely debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2007, reports Trend.
