(www.autoinsidernews.com) вЂ" The last photos of this new BMW roadster sparked a debate over whether this is the next Z4 or a new roadster which will likely be called the Z9 вЂ" although it could be the Z6.
There is still some confusion about this roadster's pedigree, but for the record it is significantly larger than the current Z4. While the Z4 is expected to grow for next-generation, making room for an entry-level Z2 roadster based on the 1-Series, most people in the spy community don't expect it to be this large, reports Trend.
The previous prototype was sporting a fabric top disguising what we see here вЂ" a folding metal hardtop. This adds ammunition for those in the Z9 camp, as we doubt that the next-generation Z4 will get a hardtop.
While there is still debate, likely to continue for some time, we are siding with the Z9 folks. If this the Z9, BMW finally has its successor to the retro-inspired Z8 and a competitor for the Mercedes-Benz SL.
