Azerbaijan , Baku /corr. " Т rend" S.Aliyev/ Ministry of Transport of Azerbaijan Republic has appealed to Azerbaijan 's government to upgrade Baku City 's transport infrastructure project, said Javid Gurbanov, head of Transport Ministry's "Azeryolservis" SC (road-building). In particular, they offered the construction of 18 new flyovers and pedestrian subways, he said.
According to Gurbanov, in March the "20 January" metro station nearby territory will receive new traffic interchange and tunnel connecting Tbilisi Avenue with the avenue near the metro.
At present 7 flyovers are constructed in Baku . Two have been completed. Pedestrian subway construction is offered as well. All this work is realized within the framework of the Baku city transport infrastructure unloading project, ordered by the Azerbaijan president "to perfect Baku city's transport system for 2006-2007". A total of AZN 300 mln works completion is envisaged over 2 years.
