Ambassador: Opening Direct Air Link Will Affect Raise of Economic Co-operation between  Azerbaijan and   Belarus

Belarus, Minsk / corr. Trend R.Agayev / On 8 March a ceremony of opening flights Baku-Minsk-Baku took place in the capital of Belarus. The airplane of Azerbaijan, Airbus, from Baku landed in the airport "Minsk- 2" at 10:20 (with local time) and returned to Baku in two hours. The first passengers of the flight were seen off by the General Representative of the State Concern " Azerbaijan Air Ways" to Russia and Belarus, Eldar Hajiyev, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Belarus, Ali Nagiyev and Director General of National Air Company BelAvia, Anatoly Gusarov.

Nagiyev said that opening direct air link will affect the increase of the economic co-operation between Azerbaijan and Belarus. He stressed that Belarus is large and very successful market for the agricultural products of Azerbaijan. "Belarus also has products that are of demand in Azerbaijan. These aspects are maximally taken into consideration in preparing bilateral documents. Successful beginning of the relations creates a ground for the successful development of the bilateral relations. The rich historical and cultural heritages of Azerbaijan should also be propagated in Belarus. Only closely knowing each other, the peoples of the two countries may establish mutually beneficial relations," Nagiyev said.

The Ambassador said that at the beginning of May the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenka will make a State visit to Azerbaijan and a number of co-operation documents are expected to be signed within the visit.

Answering the question on number of the Azerbaijanis in Belarus, Nagiyev replied that according to the official data received from the Migration Service of the Interior Ministry of Belarus, 6.000 Azerbaijanis have been officially registered in six oblasts of Belarus.

"However, taking into consideration the Azerbaijanis residing in Belarus unofficially, it is possible to confirm their number at 16-17.000 people," the Ambassador said.
