NBA Releases Banks Meeting Normative Requirement for Joint Capital

Aliyev / According to the latest data of the National Bank of Azerbaijan (NBA), 17 banks in Azerbaijan has met normative requirement for joint capital set for 1 July, 2007 (AZN 10mln), the deputy president of NBA, Rufat Aslanly, reported on 6 June. According to Aslanly, the capitals of the banks exceed AZN 10mln.

Except for Pocht Bank all banks meet the requirement at 8.2mln defined for 1 January, 2007.

"Three banks with restricted licenses are among them. Their licenses were restricted due to non-fulfilment of the requirement in the beginning of the year," Aslanly said.

"We are waiting for 10mln capital. The restrictions can be annulled depending on the capitalization," he said.

Forty-four banks are operating in Azerbaijan.

As to a new requirement for joint capital, the issue is not under current consideration.

"Bank sector is dynamically developing. Increase of all indexes has been registered within last 3 years," deputy president said.
