( Worldcarfans ) - In June, Mazda is introducing a pair of Mazda6 hatchbacks that offer buyers of this stylish D-segment model even more comfort and convenience, plus a subtle hint of visual distinction. Available with a choice of 2.0-litre petrol or 2.0-litre diesel engines, the new Mazda6 Kumano has a starting price of ?17,550 on the-road.
Based on the popular and highly specified five-door hatchback TS 2 model, the Mazda6 Kumano sports additional exterior and interior equipment. Inside, there is blue/black seat trim and a piano black centre console.
Outside, the Kumano boasts powerful Xenon headlights, with auto headlamp and auto windscreen wiper operation, plus special 'dark brushed finish' 16-inch alloy wheels, unique Kumano badging and metallic or mica paint - free of charge.
Both the 147ps petrol-engined Mazda6 2.0 Kumano and the 143ps diesel powered Mazda6 2.0D Kumano come in a choice of two colours - Titanium Grey Metallic or Stormy Blue Mica paint.
On-the-road, the Mazda6 2.0 Kumano costs ?17,550 and the 2.0D Kumano is priced at ?18,650. While the Kumano package has a total value of ?925, the price of the petrol model is increased by just ?370 and the diesel by ?380 - compared to the TS 2 derivative - representing a customer saving of ?555 and ?545 respectively.
In addition to the Kumano special features, owners of these cars are sure to enjoy the high level of standard equipment of the TS 2 donor vehicle, including: BOSE ® Premium audio system with 6 CD autochanger and seven speakers, steering wheel audio controls, electric sunroof, electric heated door mirrors, climate control air conditioning, cruise control, electric windows front and rear (with global closing system), leather wrapped steering wheel, gearknob and handbrake lever.
For safety on the road, both Kumanos are equipped with Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) and Traction Control System (TCS). For security when parked, they have remote central locking plus a Thatcham Category 1 alarm and immobiliser.
Only 120 examples of the diesel Mazda6 Kumano and 280 examples of the petrol model will be made, so these limited-edition models will certainly be an exclusive rarity on Britain's roads.
