Azerbaijan Attends 23rd Plenary meeting of Moneyval

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend I.Khalilova / Rufat Aslanly , the deputy chairman of the Managing Board of the National Bank of Azerbaijan (NBA) and also the head of the interdepartmental working group on fighting against money laundering, announced that the 23rd plenary meeting of the Council of Europe (CE) expert group on money laundering Moneyva began in Strasbourg.

Members of the expert group - representatives from the National Bank of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of National Security will be representing Azerbaijan at the gathering.

During the meeting we will carry out an exchange of experiences with the Moneyval member-states on the current state of affairs, every country will report its achievements and problems," Aslanly noted.

During the winter plenary session of Moneyval , Azerbaijan submitted a report by the Government on the work done in the country, directed towards the relevance of 40 requirements of FATF and 9 requirements regarding the prevention of the financial terror. As a result from the discussions, Azerbaijan undertook an obligation to put every effort on the approval of the bill, on the Fighting against money laundering and financing terrorism.

The drafted law is currently under the consideration of the Azerbaijani President's Administration.
