Ural Optical-Mechanical Plant Opens Permanent Representative Office in Azerbaijan

Khalilova / An oral agreement on the opening of a permanent representative office of the Ural Optical-Mechanical Plant production association in Azerbaijan has been achieved, the head of the trade representative office of the Russian Federation in Azerbaijan, Yuri Shchedrin, reported on 25 June. The decision was made recently and was stimulated by a visit of the Director General of the enterprise, Sergey Maksin, to Baku in March 2007.

"At first the administration of the production association had plans only to supply its production to Azerbaijan. However, given the peculiarities of the Azerbaijani market and the mentality, it is necessary to be present in the country and to hold monitoring exercises. On the basis of a recent agreement we have sent a recommendation to the administration of the production association where we indicated a candidate for the position of permanent representative of the Ural-Optical-Mechanical Plant in Azerbaijan. His name will be publicized soon. I personally control promotion of the interests of the company in Azerbaijan," Shchedrin said.

During the visit of the Director of the production association serious talks were held at the Ministry of Defence Industry, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Ministry of Health, AzAL state concern, the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) and the Azerbaijan State Railway.

A wide spectrum of production of the Ural Optical-Mechanical Plant was presented. Medical equipment for new-born babies (the use of the equipment decreased child deaths in Azerbaijan), produced by the plant is already in use in Azerbaijan. The plant also proposes a lamp signalling system, security system, geodesic equipment, equipment for revision of technical state of pipes and storehouses. Contracts are expected to be concluded soon.

This was the second visit of the Director General of the Ural Optical-Mechanical Plant to Baku. The first visit was in February 2006, the purpose for which was participation in an exhibition held within the framework of the opening of the Year of Russia in Azerbaijan.
