IMF Mission Satisfied with Cooperation with Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr I. Khalilova / Azerbaijani Government has developed forecasts on public budget- 2008 in three versions, Azerbaijani Economic Development Minister, Heydar Babayev, said at the meeting with International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission headed by the deputy director of the Department on Work with Middle East and Central Asia, Vitaliy Kramarenko, said on 31 August. The forecasts will be specified on the results of 9 months.

The Minister spoke on implementation of the projects included into Public Investment Program for 2007, development of a public program for next year, key priorities, key microeconomic indexes in the consolidated budget for 2008, real rise of GDP, inflation, growth rate of budget expenses, investments, improvement of business-climate, and so on.

AZN 260mln was allotted from the public budget within the framework of investment program for financing of construction and repair of general education schools.

The guests were informed of the arrangements being carried out by Azerbaijani Government and the National Bank on Maintaining Inflation.

The IMF very attentively follows the processes in Azerbaijan intended to maintain economic stability and dynamic development of economy," Kramarenko said.

The senior economist of the IMF, Maira Zermeno, and economist Shuang Ding were also in attendance.

IMF's Baku visit is being held from 29 August to 6 September.
