90% of Securities in Azerbaijan Registered via National Deposit Centre – Minister

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr U. Ismayilova / Registration of 90% of securities in Azerbaijan is carried out via the National Deposit Centre (NDC), Azerbaijani Economic Development Minister, Heydar Babayev, said at the event dedicated to the tenth anniversary of the establishment of the NDC on 7 September.

During the ten years of its functioning, the NDC's sum of its assets made up $922mln, the number of its clients (juridical entities and the public) comprised 93,126, and the number of JSCs which are the parties to register agreements with the NDC is 127, the President of the NDC, Bakhtiyar Azizov, said.

In 2006, the NDC's first Nakhchivan branch was established. It has twenty-six issuer-clients with a total of assets comprising over $5mln.

In 2006, NDC signed an agreement of 'Global Partnership' with the Association of National Numerating Agencies (ANNA) and was recognized as a national numerating agency giving the international codes ISIN and CFI to Azerbaijani issuers' securities.

The event was also attended by the President of Turkish Takasbank, E. Catana, the Regional Director of Luxemburg's Clearstream, A. Mayars, the Director of the Russian NDC, N. Yegorov, the director of the Belarusian NDC, V. Timoshenko, and the Director General of Uzbekistan's NDC, Sh. Abduzhabbarov, as well as representatives of international organizations.
