The Sate Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) plans to drill a new high-debit exploration well on the "Bulla Deniz-82" platform, a source in SOCAR said.

It is expected to produce 500,000 cubic meters of gas and 80 tons of gas condensate from this well, the source added.

Earlier the company launched the drilling, but did not complete it. SOCAR has drilled over 1,200 meters as part of the exploration drilling. The projected depth of the well is 6,500 meters. The drilling work is expected to be launched in October.

The design depth of the new well is 6,400 meters. The drilling will be carried out by the Sahil deep-drilling unit which has been recently established under the SOCAR Drilling Work Trust.

The daily debit of this field is 450,000 cubic meters of gas. According to SOCAR's geologists, the gas production in this field may increase several times, SOCAR said earlier.

Azerbaijan has 57 oil and gas fields, 18 of them are offshore and the rest are onshore. SOCAR has 62,000 employees.
