U.S. cuts oil import from Azerbaijan

In 2010, the U.S. imported 20.22 million barrels of oil from Azerbaijan compared to 27.52 million barrels in 2009, the report of the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) said
In December 2010, the U.S. imported about 573,000 barrels of Azerbaijani oil compared to 4.,55 million barrels in December 2009.

In 2008, the U.S. imported 26.8 million barrels of oil from Azerbaijan. In 2007, the United States imported more than 20.6 million barrels of oil from Azerbaijan. In 2006 this figure was 9.7 million barrels of oil.

The main export route, through which Azerbaijani oil is transported, is the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline, which delivers oil to the Turkish port of Ceyhan.

Azeri Light crude oil is also exported from the Georgian port of Supsa, delivered via the Baku-Supsa pipeline.

Oil is also exported from the Georgian Black Sea port of Batumi, where it is transported by railway from Baku, and from the port of Novorossiysk, delivered via Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline.
