The countries of the region are calling for cooperation with Iran to benefit from Iran's electricity industry's technology and potential, Mohammad Hassan Motevalizadeh, CEO of Iran Power Generation and Transmission Company (Tavanir), told Tasnim News Agency, Trend reports.

According to Motevalizadeh, this is due to Iran meeting the internal demand without any problems.

Commenting on the prolongation of the contract on the export of Iranian electricity to Iraq for another year, the CEO added that this is not due to Iraq having no interest in importing electricity from Iran, but rather because of the contractual terms setting the period for one year.

"Iran is ready to export electricity to Iraq for as long as the Iraqi side wishes to," he said.

Motevalizadeh added that, according to agreements between the two countries, Iraq's electricity distribution network will be repaired by Iranian electrical industry experts.

"Although no agreement has been signed in this regard, initial agreements have still been reached," he said, adding that a joint working group will be formed and discussions will be held.
