Tehran, Iran, July 10
Trend:
Iran is designing new hub in Petrochemical Special Economic Zone in Mahshahr that is expected to produce around 6 million tons petrochemical products, said deputy oil minister for petrochemical affairs.
"The main objective is to maintain the current situation and develop the region by attracting investments, which is the priority," said Behzad Mohammadi, Trend reports citing SHANA.
"The focus is on the development of downstream industries, while documentation for the Mahshahr hub is being designed," he added. "The previous designs are reviewed in terms of the zone feed capacity, and hopefully the work will be completed by next week."
The official emphasized that Mahshar is an old and important hub for petrochemical industry while speaking at an annual meeting at Petrochemical Special Economic Zone Organization.
"There are plants in the zone, and by operating Persian Gulf Bid Boland Gas Treating Plant and receiving supplies from other zones, the conditions will improve," he said referring to problems in providing feed.
Speaking about growth of retired staff in recent years, he added, "Considering the high rate of retired employees, there are concerns over drop of technical specialists in the National Petrochemical Company. To address the issue, a training and evaluation plan has been developed to upgrade the working staff."
Petrochemical Special Economic Zone is located southwest of Iran with 33 berths including an exclusive berth with the capacity of handling up to 70 thousand tons cargo. The zone has an easy access to land and sea routes and to Mahshahr airport alongside two lines of railroad from Imam Khomeini port to Ahvaz city in Khuzestan province.
