Platform of Phase 23 in Iran's South Pars gas field installed

A platform for the 23rd phase of Iran's South Pars gas field has been installed, Acting Deputy Director of the development project of phases 22 to 24 of South Pars Gas Field Ali Asghar Sadeghi said, Trend reports referring to National Iranian Oil Company.

The platform for the phase 23 is the third gas platform in phases 22 to 24 of the field, Sadeghi added.

Similar to the first two platforms, the third platform was constructed by Iran Marine Industrial Company (SADRA), and it daily production capacity of 14.2 million cubic meters, the acting deputy director said.

Development drilling in the wells of 23rd phase platform is completed and it is expected that the platform will be commissioned soon, Sadeghi said.

Sadeghi added that work on the 23rd phase has been 99.22 percent completed.

It is planned to extract 56 million cubic meters of sour gas, 75,000 cubic meters of gas condensate, 400 tons of sulfur on daily basis, as well as 1.05 million tons of LPG and one million tons of ethane on annual basis from the phases 22 to 24 of the South Pars gas field.

The South Pars field is located on the Iran-Qatar maritime border, therefore it is shared by the two countries. The Qatari share of the field is called North Dome. The field has 51 trillion cubic meters of gas and 36 trillion cubic meters of it are considered recoverable.
