SOCAR clarifies situation regarding Bibiheybat field

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Jan. 21

By Anastasia Savchenko - Trend:

Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR continues the work in accordance with the developed plan for this year, Ibrahim Ahmadov, deputy head of the SOCAR Public Relations and Event Management Department, told Trend.

Ahmadov said that according to the plan for developing the Bibiheybat field, a pumpjack has been recently dismantled in a landslide zone in the Bayil settlement in Baku.

“It is planned to build another facility on the territory of the dismantled unit,” the company representative noted.

Ahmadov explained that at some point, operation of individual wells becomes unprofitable.

“Since we are talking about Bibiheybat field, it should be understood that this is an old field,” said the deputy head. “It has been developed since ancient times and is at the last stage of development.”

Bibiheybat field is an oil and gas condensate field located on the Absheron Peninsula.

This is one of the oldest fields in Azerbaijan, the operation of which has been carried out for more than 100 years. The field’s development began in 1871.
