Iran sets record in gas transmission

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Jan. 22

By Elnur Baghishov - Trend:

Iran has recently set a new record in gas transmission, Managing Director of Iranian Gas Transmission Company (IGTC) Saeed Tavakkoli said, Trend reports referring to the National Iranian Gas Company’s website.

Tavakkoli noted that daily volume has reached 792 million cubic meters of gas.

The managing director added that 15 pressure-boosting stations helped achieve this record.

It is possible to transmit 900 million cubic meters of gas daily through Iran’s gas network, said Tavakkoli.

“Gas consumption in apartments has recently reached record figures in Iran,” noted the director. “However, uninterrupted gas supply was ensured as a result of the efforts of the National Iranian Gas Company.”

Gas consumption in apartments in Iran reached about 600 million cubic meters a day. Presently, 4.6 million families in around 30,000 villages in Iran, as well as 18 million families in nearly 1,140 cities use gas of Iran’s gas network.

Iranian gas is mainly ensured via Iran-Qatar joint South Pars gas field (North Dome in Qatar). Iran extracts 630 million cubic meters of gas daily from this field.
