Shell may invest in Kazakhstan's mining exploration near Caspian Sea

Shell Kazakhstan Development B.V. oil and gas company will look into investing in mining exploration in Kazakhstan, on the territory bordering the Caspian Sea, Trend reports with reference to the press office of Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources.

The topic was discussed within the framework of the meeting between Kazakhstan’s Minister of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources Magzum Mirzagaliyev with Head of Shell Kazakhstan Development B.V. Olivier Lazar.

Thus, within the framework of the meeting Mirzagaliyev invited the company to look into possible investments into mining exploration.

“I have met with Head of Shell Kazakhstan Development B.V. Olivier Lazar. Invited Shell to active cooperation,” Mirzagaliyev said.

He noted that the parties agreed to look into the possibilities of investing in geological exploration and under-studied basins, including the Eurasia project.

Mirzagaliyev noted that the parties agreed to establish a joint working group.

Shell Kazakhstan Development B.V. is a Kazakh-based regional office of British-Dutch Shell oil and gas company.

Currently Shell is already participating in development of Kazakhstan’s major oil fields, i.e. Karachaganak and Tengiz oil fields.
