In 2019, the gas supply coverage in Georgia turned out to be larger than planned, and more people were connected to the gas network, Georgian Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Turnava said, Trend reports citing Georgian media.
"In particular, in 2019, the Georgian gas transportation company provided gas to 41 settlements in 20 municipalities of seven Georgian regions. In total, 702,485 meters of the pipeline were built, and 10,820 customers were provided with gas," Turnava said.
Currently, works on the gas supply are ongoing in 20 settlements in different regions of Georgia.
A gas supply project has been prepared for another 145 settlements and a study of 407 settlements has been completed.
According to Turnova, gas supply project is one of the important state programs that will significantly improve the living conditions of citizens.
In the framework of the three-year state program in 2019-2022, access to natural gas will be provided to more than 1.2 million subscribers.
