By Leman Zeynalova - Trend:

Royal Dutch Shell is learning many lessons from the rapid and effective response implemented by our colleagues in China, Trend reports citing the company.

“We have fulfilled our industrial customers’ urgent needs for supplies of lubricants. And our network of service stations across the country has successfully maintained safe and smooth operations and supported community efforts against the virus,” said the company.

Shell said there have been no infections among forecourt staff in China and although some service stations were briefly closed by the authorities, none had to be closed by Shell.

“Our Changbei joint project has maintained a reliable gas supply to Beijing throughout. And our major Nanhai joint venture chemicals production complex in Guangdong Province has been operating at full capacity so that we can provide polypropylene and polyethylene, which, among other things, have been necessary for producing masks, packaging for disinfectants and other medical supplies,” said the company.

Shell said that at each operating site and office around the world the company has business continuity plans in place to sustain its operations and supply chains, so that the company can continue to provide vital energy products to countries, communities, businesses, motorists and homeowners.

“This includes supplying many countries with liquefied natural gas, as well as providing chemicals for essential industrial processes. We are increasing production of isopropyl alcohol, a key chemical ingredient of hand sanitizers,” said the company.

Shell is a global group of energy and petrochemical companies.

Its operations are divided into businesses: Upstream, Integrated Gas and New Energies, Downstream. Our Projects & Technology organization manages the delivery of Shell’s major projects and drives the company’s research and innovation.
