BAKU, Azerbaijan, Sept.7

By Leman Zeynalova – Trend:

Azerikimya production union of Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR processed 459,250 tons of petrochemical raw materials in 2019, Trend reports referring to SOCAR.

Azerikimya produced 117,200 tons of ethylene, 88,200 tons of propylene and 143,600 tons of other valuable pyrolysis products.

The actual yield of olefins in the EP-300 pyrolysis unit was 44.7 percent. Azerkimya produced 94,400 tons of polyethylene in 2019.

Around 37.4 percent of petrochemical products were sold domestically, and 62.6 percent were exported.

Ibrahim Ahmadov, deputy head of the SOCAR Public Relations and Event Management Department, told Trend that the goal of the modernization project is to increase production volume from 60,000 to 175,000 tons - almost three times, to supply the SOCAR Polymer plants’ complex with raw materials on a permanent basis.

Deputy Chief Engineer for the modernization of the Ethylene-Polyethylene Plant Gadir Aliyev noted that modernization of Azerikimya will be fully completed in the third quarter of 2020.

Azerikimya Production Union became subordinate to SOCAR in 2010. The union includes the ethylene-propylene plant, consisting of EP-300, Polymer-120 units, isopropyl alcohol production unit, steam and electric energy production unit, as well as repair and construction department.
