BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 18. According to the agreement with the Azerbaijani government, bp plans to drill a data well for deep gas at Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli in the fourth quarter of 2022, VP Caspian Communications & Advocacy at bp Bakhtiyar Aslanbayli told reporters, Trend reports.
“It is not an exploratory, but a data well. The purpose of drilling the data well is to reveal the pressure, temperature at the layers, which are expected to contain deep gas. Deep gas requires a huge amount of investments. So, there is a need to get additional information for launching this project. Depending on the data, the future plans regarding this project will be worked out,” he explained.
BP Exploration (Caspian Sea) Limited is the operator on behalf of the Contractor Parties to the ACG Production Sharing Agreement.
ACG participating interests are: bp (30.37 percent), SOCAR (25 percent), MOL (9.57 percent), INPEX (9.31 percent), Equinor (7.27 percent), ExxonMobil (6.79 percent), TPAO (5.73 percent), ITOCHU (3.65 percent), ONGCVidesh (2.31 percent).
