Kazakhstan slightly increases coal production over year

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 25. Coal production in Kazakhstan amounted to 8.5 million tons in May 2022, which is 1.1 percent more than in May 2021, but 3.8 percent less than in April 2022, Trend reports citing Kazakh Statistics Committee.

According to the committee, coal production in Kazakhstan amounted to 46.9 million tons in the first five months 2022, which is 5.5 percent more than the same period last year.

Kazakhstan imported 47,400 tons of coal in May 2022, which is 11.9 percent less than in May 2021, but 51.7 percent more than in April 2022.

Kazakh coal imports amounted to 192,600 tons from January through May 2022, which is 16.8 percent less than the same period last year.

Kazakhstan exported 2.4 million tons of coal in May 2022, which is 2.7 percent more than in May 2021, but 24.2 percent less than in April 2022.

Kazakh coal exports amounted to 13.6 million tons in the first five months 2022, which is 24 percent more than the same period last year.

Committee noted that 6.1 million tons of coal were sold on the domestic market of Kazakhstan in May 2022, which is 0.6 percent more than in May 2021 and eight percent more than in April 2022.

The sale of coal in the Kazakh domestic market amounted to 33.5 million tons from January through May 2022, which is 0.7 percent less than the same period last year.
