BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 14. Iran will prevent the outflow of $70 million per year with the domestic production of the catalyst for gasoline production, Trend reports.

According to the report, the oil refining industry of the country is considered to be the industry where catalysts are used the most. The use of catalysts is of great importance in the output of petroleum products such as gasoline and diesel.

With the production of the catalyst at the RFCC plant (residue fluid catalytic cracking, used for upgrading heavy feedstocks to light products) of Iran’s Shazand Oil Refining Company, 11 million liters of gasoline per day will be produced with this catalyst.

In general, 10,000 tons of catalyst will be produced and consumed at the mentioned plant. The private sector spent 20 trillion rials (about $476 million) on the production of this catalyst.

On June 14, 2023, the catalyst of the RFCC plant was put into use at the Shazand Oil Refining Company in the Markazi Province of Iran. This catalyst accelerates the process of breaking down the molecule in the crude oil refining process. The catalyst is heat resistant to 800 degrees Fahrenheit. This catalyst is composed of 16 different substances. The catalyst was produced over 10 years with the cooperation of the Shazand Oil Refining Company and a local start-up company.
