Forecasts for 2023 production at SOCAR’s Azerikimya announced

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 3. Azerikimya production union of Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR is expected to produce 40,000 tons of butane-butylene fraction in 2023, as compared to 20,000 tons in 2022, a source familiar with the matter told Trend.

Propylene output will drop from 130,000 tons in 2022 to 128,000 tons this year, showing a 1.6 percent decrease year-on-year.

Azerkimya’s polyethylene production is forecast at 59,000 tons in 2023, compared to 90,000 tons in 2022, showing a 34.4 percent decrease.

Ethylene output this year will stand at 150,000 tons this year, versus 170,000 tons in 2022, a decrease by 11.8 percent.

Azerikimya State-Owned Company was transferred to SOCAR in 2010. The Syndicate has an ethylene-polyethylene plant (EP-300, Polymer-120, isopropyl alcohol production unit, production of steam and electric energy) and a repair and construction division.

After the transference of Azerikimya to SOCAR, a number of measures have been taken towards supplying PU’s facilities with stable raw materials, improving the quality of products and boosting production, as well as modern nitrogen-oxygen complex, water-cooling device, absolute isopropyl alcohol section, facilities for removal of propane-propylene fraction from the sulphur compounds and butane-butylene fraction hydrogenation have been constructed and put into operation. Following the reconstruction, the central laboratory has been provided with modern equipment.

The main phase of the project for large-scale modernization and reconstruction of the Ethylene-Polyethylene Plant of Azerikimya was successfully completed in 2022.
