Azerbaijan significantly boosts natural gas exports to Türkiye

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 2. In July 2023, Azerbaijan significantly boosted its natural gas exports to Türkiye, marking a notable increase of 24.44 percent compared to the same period in 2022, Trend reports.

The data from Turkish Energy Markets Regulatory Authority (EPDK) shows that Azerbaijan's gas exports to Türkiye rose from 709.97 million cubic meters to 883.52 million cubic meters.

This surge in exports secured Azerbaijan the second position in terms of natural gas exports to Türkiye during the specified reporting period.

Russia led the way as the largest exporter of natural gas to Türkiye in July, with a substantial supply of 1.664 billion cubic meters, reflecting a 14.92 percent increase compared to the previous year's July figures. Algeria secured the third spot with 483.18 million cubic meters, an impressive increase of 26.22 percent compared to July 2022.

During this timeframe, Türkiye, in general, reduced its gas imports by 11.15 percent when compared to July 2022.

The total gas imports decreased from 3.411 billion cubic meters to 3.031 billion cubic meters, consisting of 2.548 billion cubic meters from pipeline supplies and 483.2 million cubic meters from LNG imports. Specifically, Türkiye witnessed a decline of 15.88 percent in pipeline gas imports, while LNG imports experienced a substantial growth of 26.22 percent compared to July 2022.
