BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 3. Iran's Ramin Thermal Power Plant in Iran’s Khuzestan Province (south-western Iran) boosted its electricity generation by 25 percent in the first half of the current Iranian year (March 21-September 22, 2023), compared to the same period last year, head of the Ramin TPP Mohsen Hafezi said, Trend reports.
The director added that the mentioned thermal power plant produced 4.32 million megawatts of electricity in six months.
Hafezi also said that the plant operated at full capacity for six months, especially during peak times.
As reported, electricity consumption in Iran reached 72,000 megawatts per day in the summer season (June 22 through September 22), while it was around 40,000 megawatts per day in other seasons.
Iran's Ramin Thermal Power Plant is considered the largest TPP in Iran. This thermal power plant has six steam units, each with a capacity of 315 megawatt-hours. The power plant can generate a total of 1,850 megawatt-hours of electricity.
In general, Iran’s thermal power plants generated over 337 million megawatts of electricity in the past year (from September 23, 2022, to September 22, 2023), which means they produced an average of 1 million megawatts per day. This is an increase of 3 percent compared to the previous similar period (from September 23, 2021, to September 22, 2021).
