STAR Refinery sees decrease in oil supply volume

BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 28. In September 2023, the STAR oil refinery, operated by the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) in Türkiye, received 1.006 million tons of oil, Trend reports citing the Turkish Energy Markets Regulatory Authority (EPDK).

This amount represents a decrease of 6.2 percent when compared to 1.072 million tons supplied during the same period in 2022.

According to the EPDK report, the refinery produced various petroleum products during this period, including approximately 496,184 tons of diesel fuel, 7,435 tons of biodiesel-containing diesel fuel, 148,037 tons of aviation fuel, 125,449 tons of other products, 15,463 tons of liquefied petroleum gas, 144,088 tons of naphtha, 63,874 tons of petroleum coke, 38,988 tons of refinery gas, and 8,586 tons of high sulfur diesel.

The STAR oil refinery, with an investment value of $6.3 billion, commenced operations in October 2018. Approximately $3.3 billion of the project's cost was covered by loans, and the total investment in the STAR refinery is expected to reach $7 billion. The facility boasts an annual refining capacity of about 10 million tons and can process 214 thousand barrels of crude oil per day.
