Baku Refinery surpasses expectations with reduced oil losses

BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 27. The Heydar Aliyev Oil Refinery in Azerbaijan achieved a remarkable 45 percent reduction, equivalent to 101,300 tons, in oil and petroleum derivative losses in 2022 compared to initial projections, Trend reports via the state oil company SOCAR.

"The diligent efforts of the refinery staff in minimizing losses were pivotal to this success," stated the company.

Additionally, the refinery realized significant savings, including 4,400 tons of catalysts and reactants, 79,000 tons of process fuel, 73 million kW/h of electrical power, and 102,700 Hcal of thermal power.

Heydar Aliyev Oil Refinery is presently undergoing a modernization and reconstruction project. The refinery currently boasts an impressive product range, including liquefied petroleum gas, gasoline, jet fuel, diesel fuel, industrial fuel oil, household fuel oil, petroleum coke, bitumen, lubricants, as well as liquefied gas fractions, naphtha, and dry gas.

Starting from the second quarter of 2023, the refinery commenced production of Euro-5 standard diesel fuel. Furthermore, the production of Euro-5 standard gasoline is planned to commence from the first quarter of 2024.
