A gas production from the first well on the gas condensate field Shakhdaniz is expected to be launched in November, 2006, Khoshbakht Yusufzadeh, the first Vice-President of SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) told today, Trend reports.
According to him, during the works being carried out on the pre-drilling wells drilled on the field, there were some problems that were resolved then. The gas production from the first well will take place in November this year, he pointed out.
About 1,2 b. cubic meters of gas is expected to be produced from the field till the end of the year. Earlier it was expected that this year`s gas production from the field would make up 850 m. cubic meters. However, this indicator has been raised.
Four wells has been recently drilled on the field, and according to the appraisal of its results, it was evident that 1.14 - 1.2 b. cubic meter of gas will be produced from SHakhdaniz till the end of the year.
According to a contract, gas from Shakhdaniz will be sold in Azerbaijan, exported to Georgia, and Turkey. A part of this gas will be bought by BTC Co.
