Iran and Turkey to Sign Gas Contract in October

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend D.Khatinoglu / A gas contract will be concluded between Ira and Turkey in October, IRNA reports. Iran and Turkey carry out intensive talks over the contract. The discussion is expected to end with signing of contract in October.

In June Iran and Turkey concluded in Ankara an agreement on cooperation in the natural gas transportation. The document was undersigned by Seidkazim Veziri Khamane, the former Iranian Energy Minister, and Hilmi Guler, the Turkish Energy Minister.

During the visit Tehran in July a Turkish delegation led by Guler held discussions in this respect with the Iranian energy minister. In October the Iranian delegation is scheduled to visit Ankara to sign a final contract.

Tehran and Ankara are also developing another document. In acirdnace with contract Turkey should invest $14bln to produce gas in three points at the Pars Janub field. Despite insistence by officials from Turkey, Iran refuses to give this country gas to be produced in future. A joint Iranian-Turkish company will set up sale of gas and set up the price of 'blue fuel.
