Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend / The enactment of a decree to import diesel fuel with sulphur content of no less than 50 mg/kg in Georgia from 1 January 2008 is likely to be delayed. The Union of Producers, Importers and Consumers of Oil Products, made this appeal to the Georgian Government.
Vano Mtvaralashvili, the Chairman of the Union, said on 10 September that this decree will negatively impact the local market, because diesel fuel imported from Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan is comparatively cheaper. He added that following the enactment of this decree, the consumer is deprived of the opportunity of selection and the only diesel fuel available at the market is at a price of 15-20 tetri more than the Azerbaijani and Turkmen fuel.
