The volume of money transfers from abroad to Georgia constituted $137.3 million in February 2020, Trend reports referring to National Bank of Georgia (NBG).
This is 9.5 percent ($11.9 million) more than the amount in February 2019.
Some 94 percent of the total money transfers from abroad came from 17 largest partner countries, with the volume of transfers from these countries each exceeding $1 million.
In February 2020, Georgia received money transfers worth $57.32 million from the EU countries, including $21.67 million from Italy, $16.43 million from Greece, $4.65 million from Germany, $3.73 million from Spain, $2.38 million from Poland, $2 million from France, $1.46 million from the UK, $1.22 from Cyprus, and $1.01 million from Ireland.
As reported, $28.68 million was sent to Georgia from Russia, $14.44 million from Israel, $13,39 million from the US, $7.77 million from Turkey, $4.16 million from Ukraine, $2.05 million from Azerbaijan, $1.88 million from Kazakhstan and $1.11 from Canada.
In February 2020, $21.7 million was transferred from Georgia, which is 22.4 percent more compared to $17.7 million in February 2019.
