Azerbaijan unveils share of business loans in client portfolio for 8M2021

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Sept.27

Most (58 percent) of the loan portfolio of Azerbaijani banks fell on business loans from January through August 2021, which increased by 2 percent or 165 million manat over the year, from 8.64 billion to 8.8 billion manat ($5.08 billion-$5.17 billion), the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) told Trend.

“During the specified period, the total loan portfolio of Azerbaijani banks exceeded 15.2 billion manat ($8.94 billion), while a year earlier it was 14.3 billion manat ($8.41 billion). On annual basis, the total loan portfolio of banks increased by 6.3 percent, or 902.3 million manat ($530.7 million),” the CBA said.

"Another 27 percent or more than 4 billion manat ($2.35 billion) fell on consumer loans, and the remaining about 15 percent, or 2.26 billion manat ($1.33 billion) - on mortgages. Consumer loans increased by 10.6 percent, and mortgage loans - by 18 percent over the year,” said the message.

The total profit of the banking sector of Azerbaijan from January through August 2021 increased by 17.5 million manat ($10.3 billion), or 4 percent compared to the same period last year - from 437.7 million to 455.2 million manat ($257.4 million - $267.7 million).
