Number of client accounts in Azerbaijani banks increases

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 8. The number of client accounts in Azerbaijani banks amounted to more than 28.5 million units as of May 2022, which shows an increase of 28.7 percent compared to the same period in 2021, Trend reports referring to the statistical report of Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).

According to CBA, current accounts in the amount of 23.5 million units occupy a significant part (82.4 percent) in the structure of client accounts, which is 22.9 percent more year-on-year.

Almost the entire share (98.8 percent), in the current account structure, belongs to individuals - 23.2 million units.

Credit accounts, accounting for 16.6 percent of client accounts, accounted for 4.7 million units, while deposit accounts accounted for 0.95 percent or about 267,000 units.

The number of bank customers was 12.8 million (an increase of 32.5 percent) by the beginning of May 2022, of which 12.7 million were individuals.

There are 26 banks in Azerbaijan, two of which are state and 24 private.
