Turkmenistan reveals total amount of cash withdrawn from ATMs

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, February 29. The total amount of cash withdrawn through ATMs in Turkmenistan for the whole of 2023 reached 22.33 billion Turkmen manat, which is equivalent to $6.38 billion, Trend reports.

According to the Central Bank of Turkmenistan, these figures are 13.8 percent more than on the same date in 2022 (19.61 billion Turkmen manat, or $5.6 billion).

During the specified period, the largest volume of cash withdrawals through an ATM's was carried out by clients of Dayhanbank State Commercial Bank of Turkmenistan for a total amount of 7.91 billion Turkmen manat ($2.26 billion), which is 23.4 percent more than in 2022, which amounted to 6.41 billion Turkmen manat ($1.83 billion).

The total amount of cash withdrawn through terminals in Turkmenistan for the whole of 2023 reached 248.74 million Turkmen manat ($71.07 million), which is 34.8 percent less than in the same period of 2022 (381.53 million Turkmen manat or $109 million).

At the same time, over the past year, the largest volume of cash withdrawals through terminals was carried out by customers of Turkmenistan State Commercial Bank for a total amount of 102.53 million Turkmen manat ($29.3 million), which is 5.4 percent less than in 2022, which amounted to 108.42 million Turkmen manat ($31 million).

Meanwhile, in recent years, Turkmenistan's financial sector has experienced significant development, stimulated by large-scale reforms and strategic investments.

The state program for the modernization of financial infrastructure, including digitalization and improved access to financial services, plays a key role in strengthening the sector, and the development of the capital market and banking sector, including expanding the supply of financial products and services, contributes to increasing the level of financial inclusion and the investment climate.
