ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, October 4. Turkmenistan's favorable geographical position opens up prospects for the creation of new environmentally friendly and efficient transport corridors between Asia and Europe, Trend reports via Turkmenistan's official media.
According to the information, this was stated at the meeting of the European Union Commissioner for International Cooperation Jutta Urpilainen with President Serdar Berdimuhamedov in Ashgabat.
Jutta Urpilainen lauded Turkmenistan for its dependable position as a transport link between Europe and Asia and stressed the need for eco-friendly transportation corridors.
In response, the head of the host nation stressed the need for closer collaboration with the EU in this area.
“The creation of environmentally friendly, safe, efficient and reliable transport corridors is necessary to support sustainable economic and social development and is extremely important in strengthening international cooperation and trade relations between countries,” he noted.
Furthermore, President Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that corridors such as North-South and East-West will turn into reliable bridges for trade between Eurasian countries.
“We highly value the partnership with the European Union. The Turkmen side is ready to further strengthen fruitful ties,” the president said.
The sides also noted that Turkmenistan is currently rolling up its sleeves and embarking on a series of ambitious projects aimed at paving the way for transportation development across the Eurasian landscape, step by step.
As the meeting wrapped up, the parties shook hands and exchanged good vibes, putting their cards on the table about their commitment to see all the planned projects through to the finish line.
