Iran looks to improve transportation of goods from Khuzestan Province

Iran`s Vice President for Economic Affairs called for accelerating the transportation process of imported and exported goods from Khuzestan Province, Trend reports citing IRNA.

Mohsen Rezaei made remarks at a meeting to review the unloading of imported basic goods at the port of Imam Khomeini.

He asked the relevant officials to present their plans and estimation on the transportation issues.

Rezaei went on to say that the warehouse conditions in the port of Imam Khomeini should be improved.

Regarding the long procedures of the clearance of imported goods, he called for eliminating the baseless procedures.

As reported, Iran's Imam Khomeini port, located on 11,000 hectares area, has the capacity to load and unloaded 54.5 million tons of cargo per year.

According to the reports, the volume of cargo loaded and unloaded in the Imam Khomeini port of the Khuzestan Province (south-western Iran) increased by about 0.3 percent in recent weeks.
